Dr. Ranin Soliman

Biography
Dr. Ranin Soliman is an Oxford DPhil Graduate and the founding member of the Oxford–Egypt EBHC Alliance. She completed her DPhil (PhD) in Evidence-Based Healthcare in 2023 from the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine (CEBM) at the University of Oxford, UK.

Ranin is a health scientist, clinical epidemiologist, and a health economics and outcomes researcher, with expertise in Evidence-Based policy and practice in healthcare. She is an Assistant Professor of Evidence-Based Practice and teaches core Evidence-Based healthcare skills and courses on the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Egypt.

Ranin also serves as an Evidence and Data to Policy consultant at the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office, providing technical advisory services to strengthen national capacities for evidence-informed policymaking in healthcare covering the 22 countries in the region. 

Ranin’s DPhil research work focused on generating high-quality evidence to improve childhood cancer health outcomes and resource use in Egypt, using real-world evidence from the Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt–57357 , systematic evidence from the literature, and qualitative evidence based on experts’ opinions. Her groundbreaking research, generously sponsored by the Egypt Cancer Network 57357, promises to revolutionize the landscape of Evidence-Based healthcare for childhood cancer in Egypt. Ranin is the head of the Health Economics and Value Unit at 57357 hospital focusing on improving childhood cancer health outcomes through implementing Evidence-Based cost-effective interventions to promote value in service delivery for children with cancer. 

Ranin participated as an independent researcher in national healthcare projects in Egypt, generating research evidence for the sustainability and resilience on health system financing and service delivery in Egypt as part of the Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience (PHSSR) project in collaboration with London School of Economics.

Her work focuses on promoting value-based healthcare (VBHC) where she received mentorship and training in establishing high-value health systems from Prof. Sir Muir Gray, founding director of the Oxford Value and Stewardship Programme.

Ranin graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University, Egypt. After that, she pursued her Master’s degree in Health Informatics from Walden University US, in 2015, and became a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) from the National Association for Healthcare Quality, US. 
Research
Ranin has vast research expertise and hands-on professional experience in real-world evidence, evidence synthesis, health economics and policy, and health service delivery using quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research methods. Her research interest includes evidence synthesis to promote global health in resource-limited contexts through improving health outcomes, optimizing resource use, and managing healthcare costs effectively to promote value in health services delivery and maintaining sustainability of health systems.

She uses advanced analytics, and decision analytic modelling for health economic evaluation to promote Evidence-Based policy and practice in healthcare. Ranin’s list of research publications is available at ORCID and Google Scholar profiles. Over the years, Ranin developed her research skills through attending various training courses at world-leading universities. She completed intensive training courses in Statistical Computing using R and STATA, qualitative research methods, knowledge translation and health economic evaluation at the University of Oxford, UK.

She received advanced training in decision modelling for health economic evaluation at the Centre for Health Economics at the University of York, UK. She attended an intensive seminar in value-based healthcare at Harvard Business School and received training in mixed methods research from Harvard University.
Teaching
Ranin Soliman is an Assistant Professor of Evidence-Based Practice at School of Life and Medical Sciences at the University of Hertfordshire, hosted by Global Academic Foundation in Egypt. She teaches the concepts of Evidence-Based practice, critical appraisal, and statistics for Evidence-Based practice to undergraduate pharmacy students at the MPharm programme.

She also teaches the Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis course for postgraduate dentistry students at MSA University. Ranin established and delivered an online intensive course about Health Economic Evidence Synthesis delivered through the Continuous Education and Development department at the Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt.

Ranin developed her teaching skills in Evidence-Based healthcare through attending the Teaching Evidence-Based Practice intensive module at the University of Oxford.
