Meet the Team

Founder and Chair of the Oxford–Egypt EBHC Alliance

Dr. Ranin Soliman is an Oxford DPhil Graduate and the founding member of the Oxford–Egypt EBHC Alliance. She completed her DPhil (PhD) in Evidence-Based Healthcare in 2023 from the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine (CEBM) at the University of Oxford, UK. Ranin is a health scientist, clinical epidemiologist, and a health economics and outcomes researcher, with expertise in Evidence-Based policy and practice in healthcare. She is an Assistant Professor of Evidence-Based Practice and teaches core Evidence-Based healthcare skills and courses on the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Egypt. Ranin also serves as an Evidence and Data to Policy consultant at the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office, providing technical advisory services to strengthen national capacities for evidence-informed policymaking in healthcare covering the 22 countries in the region.

Dr. David Nunan is a supporting founder of the of the Oxford–Egypt EBHC Alliance, and a senior researcher and educator in Evidence-Based healthcare at the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine at the University of Oxford. David is a Senior Research Fellow and departmental lecturer in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine (CEBM) at the University of Oxford, UK. He is the director of the MSc in EBHC Teaching and Education and the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching Evidence-Based Health Care at the Oxford Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine (CEBM) and a Supernumerary Fellow at Kellogg College.

Honorary Advisor

Professor Sir Muir is an internationally renowned authority on healthcare systems
who has held some of the most senior positions in the NHS in screening, public
health, information management and value-based healthcare, and has advised
governments of several countries outside the UK. He has advised Public Health
England and was appointed as the Chief Knowledge Officer of the NHS and
awarded both a CBE and later a Knighthood for services to the NHS.

Professor Sir Muir Gray is an honorary professor at the Nu eld Department of Primary Care Health Sciences. In 1994, Sir Muir Gray started an Evidence-Based
medicine movement in the UK, and he invited David Sackett, a pioneer of modern-day Evidence-Based medicine, to Oxford to establish the CEBM.

Dr. Nancy Bolous is a Senior Research Scientist at the Disease Burden and Simulation in the Department of Global Pediatric Medicine at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She is also an Instructor in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, where she teaches the Health Economics course in the Global Child Health Master’s Program. She joined St. Jude from Cairo, Egypt, where she worked as a project manager on various health care projects on a national and international scale.

Dr. David Nunan

Dr David Nunan is a Senior Research Fellow and Departmental Lecturer in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, at the University of Oxford, UK. Dr. Ranin Soliman

Dr Ranin Soliman is a DPhil holder in Evidence-based Healthcare from the University of Oxford. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Evidence-based Practice at the University of Hertfordshire, hosted by Global Academic Foundation in Egypt. Ranin Soliman is a clinical epidemiologist and health economist with research and professional expertise in promoting population health outcomes with optimal resource use based on evidence-informed policy and practice in healthcare.

Professor Carl Heneghan

Carl Heneghan is a Professor of EBM, and the Director of Oxford CEBM and Programs in EBHC at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford, an NHS Urgent Care GP, and  Co-Director of the Global Centre for Healthcare & Urbanisation. Carl Heneghan is a clinical epidemiologist with expertise in evidence-based medicine, research methods, and evidence synthesis expertise.

Professor Sir Muir Gray

Honorary Advisor
Professor Sir Muir Gray is an honorary clinical researcher at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford, and the Founding Director of Oxford Value and Stewardship Programme (OVSP).

Professor Sir Muir Gray, CBE, FRCPSGlas, FCLIP is a British physician, who has held some of the most senior positions in screening, public health, information management. and value in healthcare. Sir Muir has worked for the National Health Service in England since 1972, occupying a variety of senior positions during that time, including serving as the Director of Research and Development for Anglia and Oxford Regional Health Authority. He founded the National Library for Health, and was the Director of Clinical Knowledge, Process, and Safety for the NHS (England) National Programme. He was the first person to hold the post of Chief Knowledge Officer of the NHS (England). Together with Sir Iain Chalmers, Muir was instrumental in establishing the Cochrane Collaboration.
